     Vladimir  Shubin, was born on June 9, 1980 in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

   

    In 1997, he entered the class of associate Professor Rostislav Alexandrovich Yakovlev at St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov music college, majoring in double bass.  From 2000 he continued studies at St. Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory where also joined the class of Rostislav Yakovlev. By 2009 Vladimir Shubin got his master degree and successfully completed postgraduate program under scientific supervision of Rostislav Yakovlev.


    Vladimir Shubin took classes from such prominent and world-known double bassists as Klaus TRUMPF, Renat Ibragimov, Thomas Martin, Lev Rakov, and Sergey Akopov.


    From 1999 to 2002 Vladimir performed as an artist of the Mariinsky theatre orchestra, and since 2005 as an artist of the orchestra of the State Academic Capella of Saint Petersburg. Starting from 2008 he was appointed as a concertmaster of the double bass group.

In April 2007, he was awarded the 1st prize at 11th

Togliatti international competition of musical performers on string instruments.

    Vladimir Shubin leads an active solo concert activity. He also performs as a chamber and ensemble performer. As a soloist, he performs with Symphony orchestras in Russia and abroad.

    The artist's repertoire includes works by Russian and foreign authors of various eras and styles, written specifically for the double bass, as well as arrangements of works for violin, cello and other instruments.
