Do not be confused by the word "orchestra" appearing in the title. In fact, this is an instrumental ensemble, the cast of which, depending on the case and the size of the concert hall, can vary from 4 to 10 people.

Popular in the late 19th and mid 20th centuries, the Salon Orchestra could be heard in bourgeois salons and ballrooms performing the so-called “salon music” - in those days they were works of dance genres such as waltzes, polonaises, polkas, etc., excepts from popular operas and operettas, as well as works specially written for such a cast.

The basis of the ensemple are piano and strings, to which, depending on the concert program, a flute, clarinet, trumpet and trombone are added. A vast repertoire, in addition to the traditional “salon music”, also includes arrangements of works of symphonic and opera repertoire, ragtimes, tango, swing and movie music.
