Bulgaria, Finland, Sweden, Italy and participated in the workshops with J. Mornet, F. Lips, V. Semenov.

    In 2004 Alexander graduated from Academy of Art and founded “ClubTango Orquesta” in order to fulfill his great desire to play Tango Nuevo (“New Tango”). In the following year ClubTango won Gran-Prix from European Music Festival for youngsters in Belgium. In the same year Alexander obtained his first “Alfred and Arnold” bandoneon, and after some practice started to include this instrument into his performances.

   

    Later on Alexander continued his study at World Music Academy in Rotterdam (The Netherlands) together with  such renowned artists as Victor Villena (“Gotan Project”, “El Despues”), Gustavo Beytelmann and Leo Vervelde (“Sexteto Conyengue”), plays bandoneon in OTRA Orquesta Tipica.

    Since then he has been working closely together with tango communities, plays tango on milongas (tango dancing venues) and in concerts. He’s a guest artist of many international musical and tango festivals such as “Tango of White Nights” and “Musical Olympus” in Russia, “Sata-Hame Soi” in Finland, “Tango Fest” and “VDF” in Sweden, “Tango Argentino” in Germany.

    As a soloist he appears together with Pablo Zinger, Leonardo Granados, Juan Villareal, Anna Netrebko, Erwin Schrott and other great musicians. His latest projects “Concerto para bandoneon y orquesta”, “Evolution of Tango” and “Tango Killer” are well known in Russia and abroad.

 

    Alexander plays a unique “Ebony Pearl” bandoneon – a masterpiece of a bandoneon.

    Born in St. Petersburg, Russia Alexander Mitenev started playing the accordion at the age of nine upon an agreement with his father to buy him a dog (Elisa The Dog passed away in 2002). His first lessons took place in the club belonging to “The Machine Works” factory. Before Alexander turned 16 he had already become the well-known accordionist and received Likhachev’s scholarship.

    In 1997 he was accepted to St. Petersburg Academy of Art as a student of prof. Nicolay Kravtsov, a prominent musician and inventor of a unique accordion keyboard that wiped off the key and button distinction. While studying, Alexander has mastered his own way of playing chamber music for accordion. Concurrently he toured around Germany, Norway,
